TELENOR TRANSFERS BOTH TECHNOLOGY AND EQUALITY

When becoming CEO in 2015, Sigve Brekke started a transformationprocess that also mandated a more structured approach to diversity. He set clear and measurable targets for gender and national diversity in the important senior management team, which consists of the company’s top 150 leaders internationally.

In 2018, Sigve Brekke was among the initiators of an alliance between some of the biggest corporations in the Nordic countries: Nordic CEOs for a Sustainable Future. The goal of the alliance is to continue the work and personal passion of the top leaders to create new and sustainable solutions – stimulating partnership and collaboration towards realizing the UN Sustainable Development goals, with a Nordic approach. The group has chosen diversity and climate as their two prioritized topics.

In 2015 the company introduced global maternity leave to increase the likelihood that talented women also outside the Nordic region would return to their roles after having children. In-office kindergartens and organized safe transport for women working late are among the other initiatives put in place to encourage equality.
